Arcevia, after Perticaroli’s no, Abbondanzieri is running for mayor

Marisa Abbondanzieri returns to the track and runs for the mayor’s seat. Abbondanzieri, a retired teacher, former mayor of the town in 1988 and 1995, parliamentarian from 1999 to 2006, will run for the centre-left, after the official rejection of the outgoing mayor Dario Perticaroli, to a possible second mandate. “The Democratic Party asked me to be available to put my administrative experience and my passion at the service of my city. Many asked and encouraged me to do so. After days of great reflection I accepted – explains Abbondanzieri -. I am trying to compose an adequate team but we need the commitment of the young generations to look to the future. The traditional parties with which to interact are no longer there and we need to look at the entire community, at the energies that are there, at the people, keeping certain principles firm, starting from the constitutional values”. The last five years of city government have been particularly challenging due to the pandemic and the 2022 flood. “Mayor Perticaroli must be thanked for making himself available for a very difficult mandate where extraordinary problems occurred – adds Abbondanzieri – he had to facing environmental disasters and victims without a real role for the Region, without personnel and without effective coordination that would take charge of the entire course of the Misa and Nevola rivers. Now we need to look ahead and think about the future of Arcevia, which is a complex area , of approximately 4,300 inhabitants, spread across 18 hamlets”. “Arcevia has a beautiful territory that the public administrations and citizens, the farmers have been able to maintain with great care, commitment and work – concludes the candidate for mayor – despite the bureaucratic difficulties, the administrative complexity, the community is very busy in new professions, in socio-health, in quality agriculture, in craft activities, in tourism and this is where we need to start again”.
