Two days ago, three separate groups of carabinieri from the Anti-Tasting and Health Unit (NAS) carried out checks in as many sectors of the Santa Maria Goretti Hospital in Latina. These control operations, at the moment, have not led to any formal provision, but reflect the attention of the military personnel on the Pontine hospital structure, and not only – as reported by Il Messaggero – The members of Major Felice Egidio, commander of the NAS of Latina and Frosinone, first inspected the urology department to evaluate the conditions of the premises and the structural stability of the entire hospital. Next, they examined the kitchens for any structural and hygiene issues. Finally, they focused their attention on the emergency room, where they found overcrowding, prolonged patient stays and the presence of contract doctors. At the moment, no particular measures have been taken by the carabinieri, as confirmed by the hospital’s medical director, Sergio Parrocchia, who defined these operations as a simple routine activity, shared with the hospital management. These checks will also extend to other hospitals in the province of Latina and Frosinone, which have been placed under observation by the NAS.
