Pesaro never dies. He beats Cremona and hopes for salvation

Pesaro, 04/28/2024 – At the Vitrifrigo Arena Pesaro wins a complicated match against one Vanoli Very combative and remains clinging to the train of hope of a salvation which in any case is very unlikely. I used the term unlikely because, if we take it for granted that Pesaro wins in Venice, Treviso would have to lose at home against Tortona and Varese win at Pistoia.

The Pesaro crowd bid farewell to the 2023/24 season, and perhaps even the top flight, with a comeback victory for Carpegna Prosciutto against a Vanoli Cremona team who remained stubbornly on top of their game for the entire match. Captain Tambone’s contribution to the economy of the match was significant, as he was the top scorer of the match, scoring 24 points.

THE MATCH

Pesaro’s starting quintet, chosen by coach Meo Sacchetti, is made up of Cinciarini, Tambone, Bluiett and Mazzola; coach Cavina responds by fielding Davis, McCullough, Pecchia, Eboua and Golden.

It is a former player, Paul Eboua, who opens the ball at the basket, who will be forced to leave the parquet early due to two fouls committed in the first minutes of the game. There is a lot of balance between Pesaro and Cremona. The Marche players exploit their ballistic skills while Cremona takes advantage of their opponents’ unstable defense to apply suffocating pressure across the pitch, finding precious balls. The two teams remain locked in a substantial draw until the last minute of the first half of the game, when Cremona wins three free throws, following a foul from the arc by Ford on Davis, and scores a bomb from the hands of McCullough. The first quarter ends 22-26 for the guests.

Visconti opens the second quarter with a triple, but the balance of points still tips in favor of Cremona because the guests respond with two triples, first Zanotti then McCullough, which force coach Sacchetti to take refuge in a time-out. Pesaro makes too many mistakes when setting up the game, perhaps due to Cremona’s pressing, so the guests take the opportunity to increase the advantage, finding the maximum advantage of +8. Carpegna Prosciutto slowed down Cremona’s advance with a triple from Wright-Foreman and support from Bluiett. Pecchia and McCullough bring Cremona back to +8, finally Cinciarini closes the first half with a basket, closing the gap to 6 points. After 20 minutes, Pesaro – Cremona 43-49.

After the long break, the match saw Cremona manage the advantage thanks to the presence of Eboua and Pecchia at the basket. Pesaro chases but thanks to the heavy baskets of its captain, Matteo Tambone, sees the light at the end of the tunnel until Cinciarini overtakes the score at 61-60. Vanoli feels the pinch but gets back up with Pecchia’s bomb and Piccoli’s free throws. First Lacey, for Cremona, and then Tambone, for Pesaro, close the third quarter with a triple each. Cremona advantage 66-68 .

The last quarter begins and Pesaro gets off to a flying start, putting in two bombs made by Tambone and Wright-Foreman. Zanotti puts a stop to it, Pecchia and Lacey counter-overtake by +1. However, McDuffie, with 3′:59″ remaining, tears the net from the arc which gives the advantage back to Pesaro (80-78). After a series of shots between the two teams, Tambone scores a jump shot worth +4 for Pesaro. With 8 seconds to go McCullough puts it on the scoreboard for Cremona to -3, but it’s just a flash in the pan because it’s Cinciarini who definitively closes the game by scoring both free throws awarded.

Carpegna Prosciutto Pesaro beats Vanoli Cremona 91-86 and hopes for the miracle of salvation.

PRESSROOM

We had a difficult first half to comment on. Well done to them but we gave them a big hand.
In the second half we showed more intensity and presence, committing a few more fouls. We wanted to win here at home; Tambone’s performance was excellent and gave us a good boost. On Sunday we will go to Venice to play our last match, giving everything we have.

Demis Cavinacoach Vanoli Cremona

Congratulations to Pesaro for the victory, with the Italian group driving them in the second half. But congratulations also to my players because they played a good game.
I’m very happy with the match and with having given minutes to the young players who are with us. To win we needed some details, well done Pesaro who believed in it. The key to their victory were three players: Cinciarini, Mazzola and Tambone.
