Second day of B with Piacenza Baseball still at De Benedetti even if in truth the calendar would see the red and whites away. Not having a pitch, Brescia are hosted from time to time on the diamond of their opponent and so Piacenza, after last Sunday’s good exploit against Ares, will find themselves in front of the home crowd (game 1 at 11am and game 2 to 3.30 pm). The two victories over Ares have obviously galvanized the whole environment but the awareness is that now we will have to reconfirm ourselves and moreover against an opponent of a much different caliber.
Regardless of what may be the surprises that the championship will want to dispense along the way, one thing is certain and that is that Brescia is a team destined to play a leading role. Despite the serious problems linked to the unavailability of a playing field, the people of Brescia have been accustomed for years to identifying Serie A as their natural habitat and, after last year’s relegation, they don’t even try to hide their intentions to a prompt recovery. Against Seveso, despite struggling a bit, they took full spoils and for this reason they will arrive at De Benedetti with a corsair spirit even if, as mentioned, our diamond will become their home for one Sunday.
After the slip to B, something in the Lombardy roster has changed but this does not mean that its potential has been reduced. Withstanding the shock wave from Brescia would be a great sign for D’Auria’s young team, called to forge ahead in their maturation process in order to withstand the competition of their opponents, Brescia and beyond. Further motivation was the arrival this week of the Italian-Argentine pitcher Luca Braccini, an eighteen-year-old with great hopes who we hope will represent an added value to the bull-pen available to D’Auria and his staff.
