Good Friday in Trani, the long procession of Our Lady of Sorrows comes to an end
Descriptive text here
The night of Our Lady of Sorrows took place in an atmosphere of serene contemplation and with the vigilant control of the police. The statue of the Madonna crossed the exit of the church of Santa Teresa at 3 o’clock. The climate of religious silence that accompanied the Madonna’s exit was broken only for a few minutes by the whistles and applause of a large group of very young people, an unusual fact that provoked a harsh reaction from the mayor who declared that he “felt ashamed” .

Many faithful followed the initial stages of the procession thanks to the favorable temperatures, which continued throughout the night and a good part of the morning. Thousands wanted to witness his traditional exit from the church towards his long search for his son Jesus.

Present throughout the night and until the early hours of the morning were the Oer Trani, Trani Soccorso, Anps and Red Cross volunteers as well as the Local Police. Everything took place in the utmost order and with respect for tradition. Silence and prayer accompanied the Addolorata during her journey through the streets of the city.

Santa Teresa, Cathedral, San Giovanni, Guardian Angels, Madonna delle Grazie, Santa Chiara, San Giuseppe, Sant’Antonio, Madonna del Pozzo, Madonna del Carmine, San Francesco and again Santa Teresa are the stages of the processional route. The long “night of Trani” thus comes to an end.
