Mantovano’s version that dismantles Domani’s investigation, the 007 mystery and Giambruno’s car: «They weren’t from the Services. Melons never at risk”

There would have been no involvement of men from the Secret Services in the episode reported today by the newspaper Domani sotto casa of Giorgia Meloni. This is stated by the undersecretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, Alfredo Mantovano, who in a note also clarifies that in that incident which occurred on the night between 30 November and 1 December, the prime minister “was never put at risk”. According to the reconstruction of Emiliano Fittipaldi and Nello Trocchia, that night two men had approached the car of Andrea Giambruno, who was at Meloni’s house in the Torrino district of Rome. The two figures would have been seen snooping around the car of the prime minister’s former partner with a torch. A surveillance officer at three in the morning, Il Domani explained, would have intercepted the two men and asked them to identify themselves. At that point the two would have introduced themselves as “colleagues”. After an investigation by the Internal Information and Security Agency, it emerged that those two men were AISI agents, serving in the Prime Minister’s escort. Enough to fuel, according to Il Domani, the suspicion that some sort of conspiracy was mounting behind Meloni’s back, with members of the Services busy seeking information against her.

Alfredo Mantovano’s version

Mantovano, however, seems to dismantle this reconstruction. The undersecretary explains that that episode occurred “while President Meloni was engaged in a mission abroad”. Mantovano says he «punctually reported on that affair, as the delegated Authority for the security of the Republic, in my last hearing at Copasir on 4 April. I have no difficulty in reiterating what has already been clarified in the proper parliamentary office, namely that the investigations carried out for the part falling within the competence of the intelligence have made it possible with certainty to exclude the involvement of members of the Services in the episode, and that the safety of President Meloni has never been put at risk.”
