Italian Table Tennis Championships – Catania 27/28 April 2024

The Italian table tennis championships took place at the Pala Nitta in Catania, awarding the titles in the II1, II2 and promotional categories for the 2024 competitive year.
The organizing company – ASD Fiamma Mico Riposto – made every effort to ensure that the event remained a beautiful memory for all participating companies and it certainly achieved its objective. The COL, directed by the provincial delegate of Catania Fisdir Mr. Claudio Pellegrino, demonstrated great organizational skills, taking care of every need. The more than 50 athletes registered for the event performed at a high technical level and the show was very exciting and had profound sporting values.

“I sincerely thank Fitet Sicilia for the great collaboration shown and the Fisdir staff for the skills and professionalism put at the service of the event”, comments Marzia Bucca.

“First of all, I congratulate ASD Fiamma Riposto for the entire organization of the FISDIR Italian Table Tennis Championship, with attention to the smallest details. 16 clubs participated in the championship with over 60 participants, over 50% of the clubs present were Sicilian, the hard core of fisdir table tennis, the others, except for one presence from Reggio Calabria and Matera, were all from the north, this means that there ‘there is still a lot to do to make this activity uniform. A project between Marzia Bucca and the regional Fisdir delegates would certainly be necessary to search, together with Fitet, for young people with intellectual disabilities within the Fitet companies. Out of intellectual honesty I must say that Marzia Bucca has carried forward a project that unfortunately came to a standstill, in the last Italian Fitet championship we found a boy with Down syndrome who has already been practicing this discipline for years, demonstrating what has been said. The podium in the individual was once again conquered by Marco Cacioli and Jessica Spampinato, but the level of our tennis players is certainly growing from what we saw in the various matches and we must thank the great work done by the clubs and their technicians, I therefore express my pleasure and my gratitude to all those who dedicate themselves to the growth of our boys and above all to the Etna club that won the Italian club title”, commented Gaspare Majelli.
