At the center of ainvestigation conducted by the Guardia di Finanza of Cremona into shortfalls of public money there is a professional who for years has held the position of head of accounting for theUnion of the Municipalities of Pieve and Castelli (which includes Isola Dovarese, Torre de’ Picenardi and Pessina Cremonese), and at the same time the same role at the municipality of Verolavecchia. The Giornale di Brescia wrote it.
The investigations, which for the moment are subject to the utmost confidentiality on the part of the municipal administrations involved, began in December 2023, when a report was received relating to an operation through which they several tens of thousands of euros disappeared from public coffers.
The first to ask themselves questions were the leaders of the Union, who from some checks ascertained that, in fact, there were discrepancies in the accounts. Hence, the decision to turn to the Fiamme Gialle, and the reporting the matter to the Court of Auditors.
Following the initial investigations, the financiers went directly to the Union offices, seizing the documentation, while the professional in question was relieved of his duties. The Cremona Prosecutor’s Office then opened a case.
At the same time, thethe investigation was also extended to the Brescia area, to whose prosecutor’s office the relevant file was delivered for information. The Municipality of Verolavecchia, for its part, also launched some investigations and revoked the professional’s appointment. lb
