NEW DISTURBANCE OVER PART OF ITALY BETWEEN THURSDAY AND GOOD FRIDAY – “In the next few days, Italy will often be divided in two by diametrically opposed meteorological and climatic conditions” – this is confirmed by 3bmeteo.com meteorologist Edoardo Ferrara who explains – “the weather will often be rainy in the North and partly in the Center where it will flow Atlantic disturbances, while in the South it will be largely dry and gradually warm due to the insistence of winds coming from North Africa. Specifically, on Thursday a new passage of scattered showers and thunderstorms is expected in the North, with snow in the Alps generally from 1000-1300m but also lower in Piedmont; local phenomena also in the Center while the South will see mostly sunny conditions. On Friday there will be more rain in the northern regions although this time concentrated mainly near the Alps and Pre-Alps, while in the Centre-South the weather will be mostly stable”.
EASTER AND EASTER MONTHS OFTEN WET IN THE NORTH, ONLY PARTLY IN THE CENTER – “And we come to the Easter and Easter Monday weekend which are expected to be unstable if not at times downright disturbed in the North” – continues Ferrara of 3bmeteo.com – “in particular on Saturday we expect scattered rainfall especially in the Northwest, while Easter Sunday should be the worst with widespread phenomena also extending to the North-East, locally intense and of a thunderstorm nature: not excluding accumulations of rainfall which are sometimes very abundant, in particular close to the Pre-Alps and the foothills where overall peaks exceeding 100-150mm could be recorded. Further snowfalls, sometimes heavy, will affect the Alps but generally at medium-high altitudes. Easter Monday will also most likely see scattered showers, but this time less widespread and also alternating with sunny breaks, especially in the plains. On the edge of the cyclonic action, the Center has a greater risk of rain for Tuscany at least until Easter; elsewhere generally drier but with some showers or thunderstorms not excluded especially on Easter Monday.”
HOT IN THE SOUTH, FIRST 30°C IN SICILY – “In the meantime, the South will remain more protected from the African anticyclone with largely dry weather throughout the Easter weekend and largely also for Easter Monday: good news for outdoor activities, but on an environmental level we remind you that there are many areas that still need water, primarily Sicily. The island itself could experience the first 30°C on the Tyrrhenian side, due to the strong Scirocco winds which will pump hot air from North Africa with temperatures decidedly above average throughout the South (but also in the Centre). Even in the southern peninsula, peaks of 25-26°C may be exceeded, in internal areas far from the sea, as well as in western Sardinia.
