Local police intervene, fake driving license seized: 25-year-old reported

CREMONA – Another important action by the Local Police of Cremona for the dispute over the use of false documents.

A patrol of the Road Accident Unit of the Local Police of Cremona, during a roadside assistance intervention for a motorist in via Persico, risked being hit by a gray Chrysler car. The officers, noticing the vehicle moving away in the direction of Persico Dosimo, significantly increasing speed and skidding, became suspicious, chased the vehicle using emergency devices and stopped the suspect.

The man, a 25-year-old Nigerian, asylum seeker, after pretending not to have a driving license with him, showed the officers a Polish driving licence, which was immediately found to be false to the careful control of the operators, as later confirmed by the appraisal.

The man was reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Cremona for use of a false document and his driving license was seized. The vehicle, without insurance coverage, was also subjected to both arrest and administrative seizure.

The man was fined more than 5 thousand euros for driving without a licence.

The same fate had befallen an Indian citizen just a month earlier who had shown the Road Accident Officers a Greek driving license which also turned out to be false.

As part of the training and refresher programs for officers, a study day on the topic of “false documents” will soon be organized in order to train staff on document control during traffic police services.
