the fans continue to protest Il Tirreno

Livorno Sabattini’s goal which arrived at the last minute for the victory against Sangiovannese was not enough and could not have been enough to change the outcome of the season. And consequently the mood of the square, now in total protest against the presidency and after the latest performances also against the team, so much so that after the winning goal last Sunday the few present at the stadium started chanting “shame on you”. Anyone who was at Armando Picchi almost a week ago knows well the type of environment in which the match was played. Here, more or less, the context will be the same for tomorrow’s match against Trestina.

Empty curve

Tomorrow’s match will most likely be Livorno’s last match of the season at Ardenza (in the event of a useless playoff the semi-final would be away) and as happened against Sangio it will be played in a truly surreal atmosphere. There are few doubts about the choice of the Curva Nord who, even at the end of the match last Sunday, had lashed out against the actions of president Joel Esciua and the technical management which was, to say the least, negative in terms of results.

Also this week the North will remain empty in the central space, taped like a week ago, and in general throughout the stadium, also following the “sentiment” that can be felt on social media, it is difficult to expect more than the 500-600 people seen a few days ago . So in the end a good part of the season ticket holders will also stay at home and this in the end is truly the biggest defeat: having lost the support of even those who consider Livorno as their second skin. Returning to the curve, in addition to the completely empty space in the center, it is easy to also expect banners and some choruses of strong protest. The exact same, surreal situation as last Sunday.

No discount

Yesterday morning Livorno published the classic post on its social channels and website to announce the sale of tickets. The price in the various sectors has remained more or less the same as always. In the Curva 10 euros (instead of 12) for the full ticket, in the stands 15 euros (instead of 18), then 25 in the side grandstand, 30 euros in the central grandstand and 50 euros in the VIP grandstand. The fans expected a rock-bottom price for a match that doesn’t count for anything and doesn’t have the slightest appeal, also given the weather forecast which promises quite well and therefore it will be a beach Sunday for many Livorno people. The discount, however, was minimal, two or three euros.

Would anything have changed in terms of attendance? Probably not, but it was still a necessary gesture, a bit like what was done by the president of Torino Cairo (patron not much loved by his fans) who put tickets at 1 euro for Toro-Bologna, after the bad performance of the Granata with Frosinone.

The criticisms

Under Livorno’s post there was no shortage of criticism: “I’m deserted on Sunday too, I’m disgusted by this club”, “no one should go there”, “banner in the corner and stadium completely empty”, some of the fans’ comments. The climate of protest is evident. Unfortunately it is a very complicated situation from every point of view.
