proposals for the improvement of the urban fabric of Foggia

Foggia. During a meeting held at the Santa Chiara Auditorium in Foggia, the employers’ union publicly expressed its availability and reiterated the need for a survey of the detractors of urban quality present in the city centre.

One of the main proposals put forward concerns the extension of the operation of the law also to rural villages of notable architectural interest which are currently in a state of decay. This intervention would aim to preserve the historical-architectural heritage and improve the quality of life in small rural towns.

It was also suggested to apply the deliberative tool also to the entire territory concerning agricultural greenery, especially to buildings subject to land reform interventions. This measure, aimed at protecting the agricultural landscape and adapting existing buildings, also aims to encourage the correct “rurbanisation” of agricultural greenery, thus contributing to greater environmental sustainability.

One of the most innovative proposals concerns the possibility of relocating existing volumes from the urban center to abandoned areas of previous industrial and artisan activities. This intervention would not only free up space in the city center, but also improve housing standards by using the areas resulting from the demolition of dilapidated buildings.

The union underlines the importance of a complete redevelopment of the northern area of the city, which hosts neighborhoods of social settlements and where there has been a predominance of subsidized building interventions. Greater commitment is hoped for in the urban planning of suburban recovery interventions, in order to restore urban quality to currently degraded areas.

In particular, a rebalancing of urban functions in the northern area of the consolidated town is requested, in order to promote better social and economic integration.

The union declares itself available for dialogue and offers to actively participate in the appointed council commissions, with the aim of contributing to the overall improvement of the quality of city living.
