A great event returns to Turin – The Self-Portrait and 15 other masterpieces by Leonardo, on display at the Royal Museums INFO
Leonardo Da Vinci returns to Turin with the exhibition ‘Leonardo’s self-portrait. History and contemporaneity of a masterpiece’, which will be held at the Royal Museums and Royal Library, in Piazza Castello, from 28 March to 30 June.
This fourth edition of the ‘Face to Face with Leonardo’ format presents an unpublished version, offering in addition to the famous self-portrait, more than 60 works, of which 15 are original by the artist, including 6 sheets of the Codex Atlanticus created during the period in which Leonardo he drew the self-portrait. The exhibition also includes loans and original testimonies of Leonardo’s activity in the last years of his life.
Furthermore, the Galleria Sabauda dedicates for the first time a room to 20 works by Leonardo painters, while a selection of 15 sculptures by Giuliano Vangi completes the representation of the face.
Mario Turetta, general secretary of the Ministry of Culture and acting director of Musei Real, commented to Ansa, presenting the event:
“The encounter with the famous drawing is anticipated in the Royal Library by a multimedia installation that restores Leonardo’s likeness with cinematic visual effects, designed exclusively for the exhibition”.
