There were four of them who caused the death of Pasquale Apicella, the police officer who was on board the car which was hit head-on by a gang of criminals fleeing in theApril 2020. The bandits, all of the Roma ethnic group, were arrested shortly after the tragic impact. Since then, however, the investigations have never ended. The magistrates and the flying squad of Naples together with the traffic police department they have never stopped investigating the case and the gang responsible for the death of police officereffectively discovering the existence of an unscrupulous criminal gang dedicated to thefts, robberies and receiving stolen goods.
The Gipat the request of prosecutor’s office, issued an order for nine people all seriously suspected of belonging to an association aimed at committing aggravated thefts and receiving stolen goods. The investigation began after the arrest in 2020 of the four thieves responsible for the Pasquale’s death Apicella.
The policeman’s car was in the center of the lane Capodichino when a car at full speed with the four Roma on board hit it head on, causing the death of the young agent. The development of the investigation made it possible to reconstruct the existence and operation of a criminal association made up of a group of people, nine, all residing in the Roma camp in Giugliano.
The gang used to steal cars and rob petrol stations across the province of Naples and Caserta. The association was well organized and everyone had their own well-defined roles. There were those responsible for thefts and the bandits in charge of carrying out inspections at the premises petrol pumps. Others instead found the cars and stole them. Another group instead worked on upgrading the engines to make the cars more powerful and faster for escape. But not only.
In the group there were those who were responsible for receiving stolen goods for cars. The Gip also issued an order requiring two people accused of receiving stolen goods to report to the judicial police. The investigations examined images of video surveillance, wiretaps and other elements useful for reconstructing thefts and robberies. All pieces that made it possible to compose an intricate puzzle.
