The redevelopment works of the Modena East lake park have started in recent days which include the demolition of the incongruous structures, the strengthening of the lighting, the installation of cameras for video surveillance and the maintenance and cleaning of the green area. As part of the intervention, the project of which was developed with a participatory process involving the various associations in the neighbourhood, entertainment activities are also planned to make the place come alive by improving urban safety and combating petty crime phenomena.
The initiative, in fact, promoted by the Municipality with the Legality and Safety Office in collaboration with the Public Works sector for a total value of 333 thousand euros, is co-financed by the Emilia-Romagna Region for a share of 156 thousand euros (110 thousand in capital account for investments), precisely in the context of urban safety, following the example of the initiatives already implemented in other green areas such as, for example, that of via Donati.
The objective of the participatory process is to reach the definition of a shared management of the redeveloped space and to encourage the use of the park with sports and recreational activities after years of abandonment.
The works in progress include, in detail, the renovation of the structures that are being maintained (others will be demolished), with the renovation of two bathrooms and the creation of a service for the disabled, the installation of the video surveillance system with three cameras around the lake and the preparation for other video cameras that will be placed in the rest of the compartment. And again, the consolidation of the entire lake shore with wooden poles, the adaptation of the electrical system with the restoration of the pumping and oxygenation system of the lake water, the strengthening of the external lighting system and the creation of the walking path around the lake missing in the west lake. Finally, in the lake park, maintenance of the widespread greenery is planned, the arrangement of the play area and the installation of a new swing for the disabled, as well as the construction of a small basketball facility.
The network of associations involved in the participatory project is made up of Coopattiva, a non-profit social cooperative as leader of the Grouping, the Pianeta Association, the Modena Est Polisportiva and the Modena Est Citizens’ Committee (which also manages the “Not alone” desk). , with the involvement of the Talentho art school and other local entities.
