Via Don Minzoni, the Committee to defend greenery collects 1000 signatures and writes to the Mayor – MolfettaLive.it

The story of the felling of trees along the avenue in via Don Minzoni, in Levante, is becoming increasingly public: the Green and Territory Defense Committee, in fact, has collected around 1000 signatures and delivered an open letter yesterday to the attention of the Mayor Tommaso Minervini , of the Councilor for Public Works and related specific PNRR funding and Deputy Mayor, Nicola Piergiovanni, of the Councilor for Police, Environment, Healthy Cities and related specific PNRR funding, youth policies, Caterina Roselli and of the President of the City Council, Robert Amato.

The citizens ask for a meeting with the political and administrative class of the city: the “immediate suspension of the felling of the remaining pine trees and the activation of an administrative procedure that leads to the preparation of a project variant that can both save the existing vegetation and create the arrangement of the roads and sidewalks overlooking the green belt of pines in order to guarantee the health and safety of citizens” is what we want to achieve through this action.

“We ask – we read in the letter – that urban greenery projects respond to a broader and more homogeneous greenery planning, currently absent, which provides for its correct management and maintenance and is based on the recovery and not on the elimination of existing vegetation and on urban afforestation processes, given the current climate situation; Today there are too few spaces designated for urban greenery and among these many are closed or inaccessible, leaving them in a state of severe degradation and abandonment. We believe that all resident and non-resident citizens and users of green areas must be involved, from the beginning, by those who are planning interventions in the area that concern urban greenery and beyond”.

Now the ball goes to the administration.
