He did not make it. The injuries sustained when the panel collapsed from the freight elevator proved fatal. The traumas reported by the 78-year-old company owner who last Tuesday morning was the victim of yet another workplace accident that occurred in the province of Rimini were too serious. Accident that ended the life of Mario Battelli, craftsman and owner of the furniture and furnishing accessories company of the same name in Riccione, specializing in restaurant and hotel supplies. And it was precisely in a hotel in Viale Vespucci that he was hit by the panel that fell from the goods lift, taking him by surprise just as he was doing his job, the one he had dedicated himself to all his life. An autopsy will be performed on his body, as ordered by the public prosecutor Davide Ercolani, in order to ascertain the causes of his death, which occurred just over 24 hours after he entered the intensive care unit of the Bufalini hospital in Cesena.
