The sweetest event of the year is about to return, again with the collaboration of the association The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy: on Saturday 22 June 2024 the ninth edition of the Romantic night, a candlelit evening dedicated to lovers (but not only!). The initiative, created to celebrate love in all its forms, now gathers around 200 members annually among the Italian villages belonging to the circuit, and attracts an average of 500 thousand visitors. Let’s find out what they are new to this edition and events not to be missed.

The Romantic Night 2024: all the news

The appointment with the is renewed Romantic night in the most beautiful villages in Italy, an initiative born a few years ago, yet which has now become a huge success. On Saturday 22 June 2024, many visitors will crowd the narrow streets and small squares of the over 200 historic villages participating in the project, each of which will offer a program full of surprises and interesting events. From the Aosta Valley to Sicily, each village will have its own shows with which celebrate love and romance. But there are two common events that will take place throughout Italy.

The first is the dessert “Thought of Love”, which every year is entrusted to a renowned chef: this time it is Ilaria Salvadori’s turn, who has always brought her peasant cuisine with genuine flavors to the small screen. The dessert will be served in all the restaurants participating in the initiative, so you can taste this delicacy in each village. The second event is the midnight kisswhich will be crowned – at the stroke of the exact hour – by the launch of thousands of biodegradable balloons to celebrate the Romantic Night.

The unmissable events of the Romantic Night

As we have already mentioned, each village will have the opportunity to customize its own program of events, organizing shows of all kinds (including music, theatre, dance, cinema, competitions and much more). Let’s look at some of the most interesting ones. In Valle d’Aosta, the small town of Fontainemore will host some events dedicated to art: a live sculpture demonstration, a plein air painting demonstration and a photobooth at the Bouro waterfall.

Lots of surprises too Emilia Romagna, in the pretty village of Brisighella: here there will be dozens of craft stalls and an exhibition of historic cars, as well as a concert by the Corelli orchestra “Dreaming Melodies – Music from the world of Disney”. In Sicily, the village of Gangi is preparing for a special evening, with the Salita Madrice staircase which will be completely illuminated. Some workshops will then be held to learn how to make crepe paper flowers.

The village of Pergola, in the Marche hinterland, will open some special places to the public where you can make a visit romantic itinerary, in the wake of some of the most passionate scenes in cinema history. And of course there will be the opportunity to taste the best delicacies of the area. In Trentino Alto Adige, among the streets of the village of San Lorenzo Dorsino a guided romantic walk will be carried out, with background music of harp, cello, clarinet and flute.

In one of the most evocative panoramas of the Basilicata, the one offered by the village of Pietrapertosa, visitors will be able to participate in a traveling sax concert and then treat themselves to a souvenir photo in a frame at the belvedere overlooking the Lucanian Dolomites. Finally, the Piedmontese village of Cell Monte will organize a romantic artistic workshop at the Ecomuseo della Pietra da Cantoni, to discover all its secrets. Followed by a romantic candlelit walk through the streets of the town centre.
