The three-year investment plan for public works scheduled for the three-year period 2025/2027 has been approved Hubfor a total amount of 55 million euroscoming from both the funds of the Pnrr than others regional funds dedicated.
Among the most important works to be carried out, the construction of the emergency centre stands out for a total amount of 7 million; the seismic adaptation of the entire Sa Pio pavilion for a total of 10.4 million euros; the construction of a structure to host the nuclear medicine operational unit for 6.2 million; the requalification and technological modernization of the Radiotherapy service for 2.9 million; the functional adaptation of the sterilization center for 4.1 million; the renovation of some hospital pavilions for 3 million euros; the functional adaptation of the Neurology department. In addition to the related works to seismic adaptation of the pavilion Saint Pio, which is the oldest wing of the hospital, a radical intervention will be carried out, aimed at structural reinforcement of the load-bearing walls, using plating with special material, fiber-reinforced plasters and containment nets to incorporate the walls of the structure. As part of the enhancement of healthcare provisionforeseen by mission 6 of National recovery and resilience planthe San Pio hospital company has been admitted to funding for 21,950,000 euros to be allocated to structural adjustment interventions and modernization of the technological and digital park.

Over the course of a few years, the hospital citadel should change its face, if we also take into account the other interventions already carried out and those to be carried out with the funds allocated for the implementation of the Covid emergency room, intended to strengthen the hospital health servicethrough a reorganization plan to adequately deal with emergencies pandemic, should the need arise, ensuring an increase in hospitalisation activity in Intensive therapy and in high-intensity care areas.
Following the critical issues that arose during the pandemic from Covid–19it was necessary to intervene above all in the emergency departments and in the intensive and sub-intensive care units, proceeding on two parallel tracks. Part of the funds allocated will be used to renovate the departments of the city hospital that need to be renovated and improvedwhile a significant amount of the budget available to the company will be used to continue purchasing electromedical equipment and machinery that will allow the technological park, already expanded in the last three years, to be enriched.
The ultimate goal is to improve healthcare provision, without prejudice to the essential need to continue investing in human resources. To these very important interventions are added others in the field of plant engineering which also include the fire prevention adaptation of the pavilions. In short, a complete restyling which will continue to change the face of the structure significantly. The corporate investment plan for public works, authorized by the general directorate for Health protection and coordination of the regional health system, must be attached to the annual economic budget, which represents the formal document for the implementation of the works, to be completed within the indicated terms. But despite the commitment to structural adjustment it is paradoxical that San Pio Hospitallike all the Sannio health system, suffers from a shortage of doctors and this compromises the full functionality of the emergency services.
