Pthe countdown continues for il Possible Book 2024: less than a month before the start of the festival, Massimo Recalcati responds to the theme of waiting XXIII edition with a master lecture scheduled for June 28, at 9pm a Marina Piccola a Vieste.

Massimo Recalcati leads the audience of Possible Book in a deep and collective reflection on human thought in light of the current social crisis. His speech starts from the question that is the common thread of the meetings in the squares #iLP24: ‘‘Where is the love?”. A very current theme that is inspired by the famous global success of Black Eyed Peasthe American band that in 2003 denounced violence, racism and inequality; wondered where love was in a society dominated by wars and money. Today as twenty years ago, ‘People killin’/people dyin’ – People kill/people die’. ‘Faced with the atrocities of the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East– comments Rosella Santoro, artistic director of Libro Possibile it is a moral imperative to delve deeper and question ourselves through the lenses of knowledge and literature. Il Libro Possibile is the opportunity to do so and to find in the authoritative voices of the festival’s guests the profound meaning of the human’.

The Lacanian psychoanalyst and best-selling essayist draws on the lexicon of love and says: ‘Love is like a fire but in this similarity there is already a problem, ‘Does it burn or last?‘. The question is also the title of the lectio that serves as a preview of the official departure of the Possible Book 2024scheduled for four evenings from 10 to 13 July Polignano a mare and from 23rd to 27th July, for five evenings in Vieste.

Massimo Recalcati recently returned to bookstores with the second edition of ‘In Praise of the Unconscious: How to Make Friends with Your Worst’(Castelvecchi, 2024), which follows his latest publications ‘With closed fists. Psychoanalysis of the contemporary world‘ (Feltrinelli, 2023), Jacques Lacan, (Feltrinelli, 2023).

Over 300 writers, journalists, scientists, magistrates, entrepreneurs, representatives of institutions, artists of our time are expected in a succession of literary presentations, lectio magistralis, debates, round tables, interviews and performances that make the Book Possible the largest cultural event in the square of the Italian summer. The narrative of the world we are experiencing will remain at the center of the meetings scheduled for #iLP24 to delve deeper into the facts through the lenses of knowledge, literature and psychology. To find in the authoritative voices of the festival guests the profound meaning of humanity and the answer to the theme of this edition.
