Lawyers and mysteries: “The Partner” by Grisham

John Grisham is the international king of the legal thriller, an author of three hundred million copies. His novels have left their mark on genre literature and have often been translated into cinema. Starting today, the best titles by the American writer arrive on newsstands with our newspapers. We start with Il socio, then every Friday, until November 29th, a new book will be released in optional combination with the QN newspapers il Resto del Carlino, La Nazione, il Giorno in Emilia Romagna, Marche, Tuscany, Umbria, Lombardy and the province of La Spezia, at the price of €9.90 (in addition to the newspaper). The complete collection will therefore be made up of 25 titles.

The first volume on newsstands today is The Partner, released in 1991, brought to the cinema two years later by Sydney Pollack, in a film starring Tom Cruise. The partner tells the story of Mitchell McDeere, a degree from Harvard and a fabulous contract with a prestigious law firm in Memphis. For Mitchell and his wife Abby, the future couldn’t be brighter.

Everything perfect, at least apparently. It’s a shame that the FBI demands from him the proof of the shady deals that the Bendini, Lambert & Locke firm manages on behalf of the mafia. And it’s also a shame that the firm’s senior partners have a terrible habit of having unfaithful collaborators eliminated. Tailed by the FBI, threatened by the mafia, Mitchell is trapped. Unless he manages to pull off the most formidable prank on me…

For the next release, Friday 21st, The Client will arrive on newsstands.
