Classense books return to the bathing establishments

Also this year the Classense Library project “A beach that reads is a beautiful story” returns to the Ravenna shores. The initiative, born from the belief that reading is a fundamental value for the intellectual and social growth of a community, aims to promote reading by taking it out of institutional contexts and into places of leisure and relaxation. Starting from June 18th, customers of the beach establishments in Ravenna and the surrounding area will have the opportunity to enjoy the pleasure of reading thanks to the convenience of having books within “umbrella reach”. This project facilitates access to reading for residents and tourists by offering a book lending service in a simple and free way.

Each beach establishment that joins the initiative will receive a selection of fifty titles, for a total of around five hundred volumes, carefully chosen by the librarians of Classense. The selection, made with professionalism and attention to the different tastes of readers, will be available without the need for a membership card and without a return deadline, thus bringing the book even closer to the reader. Participation in the project is entirely free for beach establishments and the loan service will be active until mid-September.

The initiative is part of the programming envisaged by the Intermunicipal Reading Pact signed by the Municipality of Ravenna, which recognizes reading as a fundamental social value, to be supported through coordinated and joint action by public and private entities present in the area. Considering books and reading as strategic resources in which to invest with the aim of improving individual and community well-being, promoting social cohesion and stimulating the development of critical thinking among citizens. Every single citizen, every business or association can join the pact, contributing to the integration between territorial networks that will allow reading to continue to remain a fundamental element for the cultural and democratic growth of our country.
