Bella Ciao to PopUp: more books and music to celebrate 3 years of the cultural space
Descriptive text here

The week of meetings, presentations, workshops, music, tastings and good food continues to celebrate the first 3 years of POPUP, the bookshop – and cultural and social space – in via Birago, in Perugia, born from the meeting between the associations MenteGlocale, Postal code 06124 and seven floors. On Thursday 18th, at 6.30pm, the musicologist, journalist and musician Jacopo Tomatis will arrive in the bookshop in Piazza Birago to present his book HELLO BEAUTIFUL. A song, a show, a record (The Assayer). Giancarlo Palombini, ethnomusicologist, will dialogue with him.

Hello beautiful it is the story of a piece of Italian music history that has deliberately remained far from the official charts and circuits, but is fundamental for the construction of our national and political identity. A book that reminds us of the exciting (and animated) origins of a song that has become an anthem of the fight for freedom around the world.
Tomatis’s is the exploration of an iconic song; an investigation capable of balancing facts and legends, revivals and misinterpretations, which manages to dismantle the mythology of a song without diminishing its charm and importance. Because, surely, Hello beautiful it was, and still is, a divisive object: singing it – or not singing it – represents a very specific choice.

Friday 19 April, at 4.30 pm, third appointment with The beauty of the tactileworkshop – for parents, boys and girls – for the creation of tactile books curated by Elena Dettore and Lucia Viti (booking required, via email: [email protected], whatsapp: 349 2903197).
Finally, Saturday 20 April, from 6pm music with Portofino 50’s Mood: retro style and elegance, combined with the timeless charm of the great music of the 50s and 60s reinterpreted in an original marching version. On Friday and Saturday, on the occasion of the feast of San Jordi, the day of books and roses, a flower will also be given to anyone who comes to buy a book. And you have until the end of April to sign up, supporting the space’s annual activity in exchange for discounts and freebies (https://progettopopup.it/campagna-di-tesseramento/).
