Italogranchio, the epic of an invasion in a book

An ecological fable, a provocative book on the invasion of the blue crab that is plaguing the fishing sector of Polesine and the Upper Adriatic.

Giuliano Ramazzinajournalist and writer, presented his latest book today at the Urban Center “Italogranchio”, in the presence of the president of the Cur of Rovigo Diego Crivellari and the president of the Rovigo – Chioggia Fish District Consortium Massimo Barbin.

“Italo Granchio is a book that summarizes months and months of storytelling in the mass media – explains the author – With this book I tried to outline the entire epic of the blue crab invasion. Mine is a popular ecological fairy tale. The blue crab takes on human form and contrary to what the dominant narrative wants, he’s not a killer. He doesn’t eat mussels in this case the Pellestrina mussel, if he marries her.”

The book therefore provokes: “It tries to overturn a relationship and find a point of synthesis between those who are with the crab and those who are against it. A necessary reflection – concludes Ramazzina – considering that in some countries, such as Tunisia, the problem has been solved in a brilliant way, using the crab blue for food purposes”.
