Verses that touch on the theme of the roughness of humanity and the world. There is also this in the new book of poems from Cesena Mariangela Gualtieriby title “Rough human” and published by Einaudiin the bookstore for a couple of days.
In one poem he hopes that “we will improve | we’ve been here a short time. | We still don’t understand and we get too excited. | We’re still fighting.” But in the civil poems that close the collection theindignation seems to prevail.
Within this frame, however, there is the treasure of the wild, there are signs of the sacredthere is above all the miracle of silence, in which “Everything is a happy enigma | voiceless voice. Everything says | say yes while he is silent”. Many of these lyrics are punctuated by the presence of animals, domestic and otherwise, almost angelic presences, intermediaries for “penetrate the secret things”. But another common thread of the collection is given by time, an entity that marks, models, but which sooner or later we “override” to reach “the whole that rolls | entire. The sumptuous | nothing from heaven.”
More than in her other books, here Mariangela Gualtieri talks about end, which is the end of individual bodies, the end of “masks”, but also the continuity of life. Modulating her voice between hardness and sweetness, enchantment and disenchantment, her voice is an invitation to pay attention and listen to the visible and the invisible.
