Tombolo (Padua) – After the Tuscan preview prepared on the occasion of the “Ciclostorica La Lastrense” held in the Council Hall of Lastra, in the province of Florence, the presentation of the book and cycling stories was held in the “Alberto Vighesso” Auditorium in Tombolo (Padua). by Alessio Stefano Berti, an event accompanied by musical pieces by Trizio, entitled “Strong men, Fragile men – on cursed roads – cycling stories” with a preface by Giancarlo Brocci. During the evening Berti explained and reiterated that “how many stories have arisen around the world of cycling. How many legends, how many characters, how many battles have been told, and how many challenges have taken place on the road from the beginning to the present day. Perhaps because cycling stories most of the time have the same ingredients as fairy tales, and then the protagonists become superheroes, brave princes or knights of fortune who almost always win and, even in defeat, make us daydream.” It was an important “home” event for Alessio Stefano Berti, born in 1967 from Onara di Tombolo, in front of numerous fellow citizens, friends and sports enthusiasts, after multiple extra-regional commitments and also as a collateral event for the 50th anniversary celebrations of the foundation of the Veloce Club Tombolo born on 29 November 1974. The writer works in the field of mental health and is active in many socio-cultural-historical-sports initiatives, also promoting theatrical performances of poetic-musical narratives, including the most recent “And you… do you remember Marco” dedicated to the late Romagna champion Pantani. Also spectacular are the historical video-stories on the First Great War made on the Asiago Plateau at Forte Interrotto and on the trenches of the Sacro Patrio Monte Grappa, in addition to his amateur competitive activity and the organization of various events, often accompanied by profound ideals, values and meanings . As an expert cyclist, Berti has, in fact, participated, among others, in the Classics of the North, in the Eroica, in the Strade Bianche and in 2020 he traveled the long 768 km journey from Onara di Tombolo to the Sanctuary of Padre Pio in Puglia; in 2022 at the pilgrimage “La Via degli Dei” (130 km crossing the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines: from Piazza Maggiore in Bologna to Piazza della Signoria in Florence. Bosch); in 2023 from Sant’Antonio da Padova-San Francesco d’Assisi-San Pietro a Roma; then as a night runner on the spectacular uphill marches Onara di Tombolo-Sacrario di Asiago and Onara di Tombolo-Sacrario di Cima Grappa, the massif where he makes frequent excursions, often accompanied by his son Enrico and the doctor-agronomist, Giovanni Borsa. He is a great fan of local teams, including a regular presence in the “Tribuna Est” of the Tombolato Stadium in Cittadella and at the Palasport of San Martino di Lupari, in the Padua area, at the Serie A1 LupeBasket matches. The evening was attended by local “old glories” such as the great Giuseppe Beghetto, a titled track and road racer born in 1939 from Tombolo, Olympic gold medalist in Rome 60 and multiple world champion, and Flavio Martini, born in 1945 from Galliera Veneta, multiple winner and in the amateur and professional competitions in the two-year period 1969-1970. The president of the Veloce Club Tombolo, Amedeo Pilotto, also brought greetings and announced the various initiatives for the prestigious anniversary, with the recent “Opening Pedalata” and the “top-evening” of true socio-cultural-sporting values and fraternal friendship of sport, highlighting the mutual and long collaboration with Alessio Stefano Berti. Present were the mayor Cristian Andretta, the deputy Luca Frasson, the councilor Vanda Marchetti, professor Lamberto Tellatin and the Director of the Professional Course, Pierluigi Basso.
