Carlo Emilio Costa had a one-year pension blocked by the INPS, which had ordered him to repay almost 24 thousand euros due to a comparison in a TV series. After four years of battles in court, the 67-year-old from Vicenza won after the the Vicenza court accepted his appeal and condemned the institute to pay all the sums that had been withheld from it, including interest.
The mockery for pensions with «Quota 100»
Costa had worked for IBM for 39 years and as a sales agent. As reported by Corriere Veneto, in 2020 he participated in the TV series «Light of your eyes» in the streets of Thiene. From those few hours of work she had obtained 78 euros gross. But Costa had taken early retirement with «Quota 100» and therefore the INPS had written to him a few months later with a «provision for recovery of sums received on pension». The very high bill had been around 24 thousand euros, with related monthly deductions. Retirement with “Quota 100”, in fact, does not allow you to undertake any subordinate profession. Costa had turned to a CISL patronage. He had managed to unlock the pension, but after a while the INPS changed its mind. “I felt like I was dying when I received the news that INPS had blocked my pension and that I had to repay almost 24 thousand euros.”
The turning point
At that point Costa had to rely on lawyers: Paola Piccoli and Alberto Righi: «They made me receive my pension but reduced by a fifth. Suing was the only way forward. Now I’ll pay attention to the INPS appeals and then I’ll get back what has been withheld from me over the years, around 15 thousand euros.”
