Sunday 19 May with the demonstration “With love, color also arises from stones” Pietrabbondante he paid homage to women by shouting his No to violence against women with a triumph of colours.
The title of the event refers to our “Morge”, which for one day lit up with the colors of our crochet squares. They are unchanged, immobile, strong and majestic but incredibly delicate, they hide heart and soul and, despite their hardness, they also leave room for a flower to bloom. For us Pietrabbondantesi are a symbol of resistance but they can also be refuge and protection.
Women help other women through an ancient and traditional art.
A thread, a metaphor of union, has linked and will continue to link the women of the town of rocks and snow to many other women from many municipalities in Molise and beyond, for a common purpose. Colored balls, intertwined threads, different techniques, inspiration, imagination and creativity, plurality of hands, minds and hearts have given life to more than three hundred multicolored crochet squares.
We have colored the most significant corner of the town: Piazza Vittorio Veneto where the bronze statue of Samnite warrior which, from the top of his podium, he observed IRIS WOMANa gorgeous crochet-clad bride and personification of the rainbow, pouring colors across the square in a large rhombus made of woolen squares.
The Warrior, an icon of strength, resilience and hope, reminds us that being a woman is a fascinating adventure that requires courage and spreads this message to all women in the world. Donna Iris reminds us that everyone is the creator of the canvas of their own life and can paint it with all the possible emotions, transforming it into a spectacle of colours.
The crochet squares represent many pieces of a gigantic puzzle blanket where everyone will find the right fit and perfect harmony, but they also represent each person, with their experiences, with their history, their uniqueness and personality.
Therefore, every piece is irreplaceable, it is right as it is and was necessary to create our masterpiece!
After the blessing of the crochet squares, the representative blanket of Pietrabbondante was presented, the crochet street and many Crochet corners to take souvenir photos; finally an aperitif in company. The Me Too bench has been inaugurated and will be positioned in the “Me Too Balcony” a splendid glimpse of Pietrabbondante, together with other crochet decorations.
Our heartfelt thanks to the President ofMe Too Association Pasqualino De Mattia which offered us the opportunity to be directly and actively involved in the important project “Long live Vittoria Isernia 2024”. Thanks to him who, with enthusiasm and determination, is creating a beautiful network between people, women, associations, municipalities, RSAs, truly reaching everyone.
