Let’s see in detail how this building was born and what its characteristics are.
How the Slide House in Tokyo was born
The house with the slide is located in Naka Meguro, a residential neighborhood in the city of Tokyoin Japan, which is located by the Meguro River and which is considered an elegant area with a high quality of life.
The Slide House was designed and built by Japanese studio LEVEL Architects.
The building was designed for a couple with three small childrenwhose need was to create a living space capable of being also a fun place in which to live a happy childhood made up of play and joyful moments.
How the Slide House is made
The building appears externally as a bare and square construction rectangular it’s composed by three floors.
The residence is equipped with one integrated slide that connects the floorswhile on the opposite side of the structure there is a staircase: in practice residents can choose whether to move from one floor to another by going down the stairs or with the slide.
The space dedicated to play is perfectly integrated into the living space of everyday life. There living area is located at second floor and consists of a living room, a dining room and a kitchen. In the center, in line with the objectives of the project, a compartment has been created, which is closed and separated from the rooms and which is full of colored balls.
The living area features walls with rounded corners and enveloping and gods very ceilings high which allow air and light, coming from large windows, to spread throughout the space and integrates a 6 meter long padded bench that runs along the entire wall.
The third floor hosts the sleeping areain which there are no internal divisions or doors, but rather one one large environment which is the bedroom of the whole family.
