Moscow: ‘5 civilians killed by Ukrainian drone, including 2 children’ – Europe

A Ukrainian drone hit a Russian village close to the border in the Kursk oblast, killing at least 5 civilians, including 2 children, according to the Russian regional governor. “With great sorrow I announce that five people, including two small children” were killed and “two other members of the same family injured and in serious condition”, the governor of the Kursk region, Aleksei Smirnov, wrote on Telegram.

Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed a Russian space surveillance and communications center in occupied Crimea this week, the Defense Ministry said, quoted by the Kyiv Independent. The center “is an important military component in the Russian satellite communications and navigation system,” the ministry said, without specifying the date of the attack.

A series of explosions were reported in several settlements in Crimea on the night of June 23, including the city of Yevpatoria and the village of Vityne. Neither Ukrainian nor Russian officials commented on the attack. Satellite images, published the next day by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty’s investigative project Schemes, showed evidence of fires on the territory of a military facility in Vityne, where the 40th separate command and measurement complex (Long-Range Space Communications Center) of the Russian Aerospace Forces is reportedly located.

From the US a new package of 150 million dollars for Kiev

The Biden administration will provide Ukraine with $150 million worth of weapons and ammunition, including Hawk air defense interceptors and 155-millimeter artillery shells, Reuters reported on its website, citing two U.S. officials. The aid package is expected to be announced Monday, according to the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The United States began shipping Hawk interceptor missiles to Ukraine in 2022 as an upgrade to its shoulder-launched Stinger air defense missile systems, a smaller, shorter-range system. The MIM-23 HAWK, an acronym for ‘Homing all the way killer’, was introduced in the 1950s and updated over the years.
