A pilot manages to land on the airport runway, despite it being submerged in water: the maneuver implemented to land.
Heavy rains have submerged Dubai during the month of April, causing the interruption of operations at the airport, as well as the cancellation and/or diversion of many flights. In fact, schools were closed at the time because, precisely in those days, further rainfall was forecast. During that period, therefore, the United Arab Emirates had to deal with various floods. A plane, in such conditions, still managed to land on the runway submerged in water: a feat filmed in a video that later went viral on the internet.

The incessant rains that have hit Dubai in recent months have put the city’s international airport to the test, which – during the month of April – was forced to implement a temporary suspension of air operations for 25 minutes. This disruption resulted in the cancellation of over fifty flights and several others were diverted.

Not only the airport, but also very well-known and popular places, among which we can include the Dubai Mall and the Mall of the Emirates suffered various damages due to flooding, with water essentially reaching ankles in some subway stations.
Such events, therefore, even if managed in the best possible way, therefore, show, in fact, the vulnerability arid regions facing unexpected and intense weather phenomena: for these reasons, the countries that are part of the United Arab Emirates find themselves faced with the problem of managing emergencies in a targeted manner, in order to keep future calamities under control.

The United Arab Emirates are characterized by a predominantly arid climateand therefore, they are not used to dealing with rains and extreme weather events: therefore, floods are a very complicated problem to deal with, so much so that the government has started investing in artificial rain technologies in order to better manage rainfall.
The situation was equally serious in Omanwhere recent storms have caused devastating floods. According to the National Emergency Management Committee, the rains have killed a total of 18 people, including children and adults, many of whom died when the water reached the cars they were traveling in. Many of the bodies, moreover, were not recovered until days later, as they were swept away by the water.
