Francesco Bellomo must definitively say goodbye to the toga. The Council of State today put an end to the matter concerning the membership of the judiciary of the former scientific director of the preparatory school for the competition for the profession “Law and Science”, accused of having established a real code, which It required, among other things, that female students show up to lessons in miniskirts and stilettos. Bellomo was acquitted in November 2020 of the accusations of violence and persecutory acts against a scholarship holder at the school because “the fact does not exist”. But the disciplinary proceedings within the judiciary continued, until today’s final sentence. Bellomo “has carried out acts detrimental to the dignity and fundamental rights of the person”, say the judges of the Council of State in the sentence with which they order his dismissal from the administrative judiciary. The former colleague has in fact “abused his qualification as a magistrate to solicit the public office which is the recipient of his interventions for private purposes connected to the relationship between him”, the judges continue in the 111-page ruling seen by Corriere della Sera. Those surreal rules imposed on aspiring magistrates even with “the application of contractual clauses and regulatory provisions” had, beyond any reasonable doubt, “no plausible relationship with training for the competition”. The sentence also highlights the behavior detrimental to female dignity carried out by Bellomo when he published the intimate confessions of some female students: an “arbitrary and abusive use of conversations aimed at denigrating women”. In short, Bellomo has damaged “the function and prestige of the image of the judiciary” and is no longer worthy of being part of it.
