with the story I need you, against violence of all kinds

The awards ceremony for the National Literary Prize “Silence kills 2024” took place on Saturday 29 June in Roseto degli Abruzzi at the Villa Comunale. Award organized by the Il Guscio aps Association, which raises awareness against violence of all kinds. The writer and journalist from Abruzzo Beniamino Cardines wins the overall first prize with the story “I need you”. We remember that the award-winning author, for years at the center of an intense program between social literature and creative writing, was proclaimed last year by LFA Publisher (Italy-Spain) “Author of the Year 2023” at the Turin International Book Fair .

Furthermore, her latest book “Sirena Bambina” published by ES/SanPino Edizioni of Turin, was included in the prestigious catalogue of Diffusione San Paolo 2023. Andreina Moretti, president of the association Il Guscio: “Our Association is actively involved in the fight against violence against women and of all kinds. Among the awareness-raising activities, the literary prize was born, which offers the opportunity for anyone to express their thoughts on this painful social plague, especially young people. We also want to fight with words, any form of violence. A literary competition therefore, which gives space, not only to established writers, but also to all those people who want to tell a story. This is how the anthology Il silenzio uccide was born, now in its fourth edition.”

Beniamino Cardines, writer: “I write to translate life and its contradictions into emotions and strength. To shine a light on the dark corners of reality. This story is part of the award-winning collection Cleopatra or Meryl Streep? still unpublished. A story without any mercy, tragic cruel painful. A wounded and heartless story, in which the protagonists seem to surrender to the oppression of violence and pain. The monster is absent, his hands remain to tell us about human tears and degradation. A man who is violent towards his wife, his mother-in-law, his son, the only voice with the courage to report, to speak of truth, of redemption, of love that heals. Impossible to remain indifferent.”
