Raised in Pontoglio, he had lived in Palazzolo all his life: two towns in mourning for the death of Lorenzo Raccagni, 52, who died on Sunday afternoon in Costa Volpino, on Lake Iseo, following a serious motorcycle accident. He was riding his Yamaha in the company of his wife Daniela, 51: the couple, around 2:30 pm, were hit by a Fiat Panda driven by an 82-year-old who at that moment was entering Via Cesare Battisti from a secondary road. The violent impact threw Raccagni onto the asphalt, several meters away. Due to the injuries he sustained, his heart stopped: he was resuscitated for a long time by paramedics, for more than half an hour, but without success.
On site were the medical car and the ambulances of the volunteers of Pisogne and Sale Marasino, as well as the helicopter rescue that took off from Como: the latter took care of transporting his wife Daniela to the hospital, admitted with yellow code (with several fractures) at the Poliambulanza in Brescia. The driver of the Panda was unharmed.
The funeral is on Wednesday morning
The body of the poor Raccagni was recomposed and transferred to the Le Calle Funeral Home in Palazzolo, where the funeral chapel was set up: visits are allowed from 8:30 to 20:00. The funeral will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 9:30 in the parish church of San Giuseppe, still in Palazzolo: after the ceremony, the funeral will continue to the town cemetery. Lorenzo Raccagni leaves behind in grief, in addition to his wife Daniela, also his young children Giorgia and Francesco, his father Francesco, his sister Laura, his brother Iuri.
The memory of Palazzolo’s friends
He worked for a metalworking company in Calcio, in the province of Bergamo, but lived with his family in Palazzolo, in the San Giuseppe neighborhood. He was very busy in town: “We join the family of Lorenzo, our volunteer during the annual events, who tragically passed away. Our most sincere condolences to his wife Daniela, still hospitalized and to whom we wish a speedy recovery, to his children and to all his loved ones in this moment of deep sadness”, we read in a note from Pro Palazzolo.
