Paderno Bridge, Fragomeli: “no answer on which project will be followed”

“On the San Michele bridge we are at year zero: 5 months after our previous request for information on the current status of the redevelopment project of the Paderno d’Adda bridge, which today represents one of the most critical infrastructures in an area that involves three provinces, Lecco, Monza and Brianza and Bergamo, there is still no certain answer on which of the projects the Region has decided to follow. For our part, we have asked for a further update on the work, also considering the fact that the current structure of the San Michele bridge has a useful life until 2030”, they say Gian Mario Fragomeli e Gigi Pontiregional councillors of the Democratic Party, at the end of the hearing, in the V Commission Territory, infrastructure and mobility, with Rfi, the regional councillor, the Provinces of Bergamo, Lecco and Monza Brianza and the interested Municipalities.

Paderno Bridge: “No Answer on Which Project Will Be Followed”

“All the concerns that have been exposed regarding the functionality of the intervention – continues Fragomeli – from a road and railway point of view, are abundantly open, because we do not have a defined solution, but three very significant cost hypotheses, from 350 to over 600 million euros, with only 5 years left to define the project, plan, recover the majority of the resources and carry out the work. Practically impossible and with levels of criticality that leave us very perplexed.”

“For their part, the mayors told us about the traffic problems, the unmet mobility needs, both on the public and private front, the wait to understand what inconvenience the increase in the passage of heavy vehicles will cause. Therefore the administrations involved want to agree on the related works in order to connect the new road network of the bridge with the main road arteries, one above all the Eastern ring road, mitigating the effects on their urban fabric. This also led us to ask for an update and for the times to be absolutely reviewed and monitored”, Fragomeli and Ponti then say.

“It is above all important that the regional technical table involving the three Provinces be convened as soon as possible, since on that occasion the Region will also have the opportunity to clarify the organizational hypothesis of traffic, possibly on an even wider quadrant than that already hypothesized. An enormous issue to address that we have also noted today requires more specific answers and certain outcomes. We, as the Democratic Party, are committed to monitoring the situation, to overseeing what is done and decided and to acting as spokespersons, as always, for the mayors and our municipalities”, conclude the Democratic councilors.
