At this moment, fear and turmoil reign in Italian cinemas thanks to Michael Sarnoski’s film. It is a prequel/spin-off of A Quiet Placefrom 2018, also with an Oscar nomination. The title is in continuity with the previous film, A Quiet Place – Day 1and represents the third film in the saga. In 2020, in fact, John Krasinski, again with Emily Blunt as the protagonist, made a sequel to the first film, entitled A Quiet Place 2. What is A Quiet Place About – Day 1
The prequel of A Quiet Place is based on the horrifying choice of the alien invasion of undefined creatures that rain from the sky. A quiet New York, in fact, is infested by strange violent creatures hunting humans. The gift of these individuals – the Angels of Death – is that of having a superior hearing to the human one, which allows them to track down men from their slightest noise and fill with them the thirst for blood that drives them.
The protagonists of the film are Eric e Samplayed by Joseph Quinn and Lupita Nyong’o, who – together with the cat Frodo – try to cross the city and survive the manhunt. Sam is sick, she has terminal cancer, and lives in a nursing home from which – on the day the Angels of Death fall – they go out for a puppet show and a pizza for dinner. Despite the apocalypse, Sam – now sick – wants to reach her pizza in the city at all costs, even if it were her last day on earth. A law student joins her on her journey: Eric.

A Quiet Place ending explained – Day 1
The pizzeria is destroyed, Eric and Sam then reach a jazz bar to find a pizza for the woman with the apocalypse in the background. At this point, they look for a plan to escape from the aliens.
Sam tries to make noise to distract the Angels of Death, after handing Frodo the cat into the hands of Eric who – meanwhile – has been tasked with recovering a boat on which some survivors are escaping. The creatures, in fact, lean out from the banks but are unable to reach the boat in the water that protects the survivors.
Sam continues to act as bait to distract the Angels of Death, so Frodo and Eric reach the boat at the last second. Once on board, the young man finds a note from Sam in his sweatshirt, asking him to take care of the cat.
The woman, however, turns up the volume on her iPod and walks away alone through the city, but – just before the screen goes black – we see the shadow of an alien pass by her. Too close, to make us think that it really was Sam’s last day on Earth.
