Fire emergency in the state of New Mexico

Devastating fires have been raging for a few days in the far south of the USA, particularly in the state of New MexicoWhere at least two people have lost their lives this week and eight others are still missing. Rescue teams are concentrating their searches in the tourist village of Ruidoso, about 180km south of Albuquerque, also with the help of dogs, to find the eight missing tourists. According to local authorities in the last week the fires have burned more than 10,000 hectares of land in New Mexico, for which over 1000 firefighters were deployed.

The fires were triggered by extreme heat and drought which are raging in the south-west of the USA, with maximum temperatures this week even managing to exceed 40°C at altitudes above 1000m. Complicating the situation will be the intense heat and the absence of significant rainfall which will last at least until the beginning of July, with a good chance that other fires will develop in New Mexico. Meanwhile the FBI is also involvedwhich is investigating for a possible malicious origin.
