Piombino 29 June 2024 – Locked in the dark and tied to the bed net, saved by the Carabinieri
The Carabinieri Forestali of the Venturina Nucleus, following a control activity carried out on their own initiative, reported to the Livorno AG a young man in his early twenties, with a police record.
Following an inspection carried out in the young man’s home in Piombino, it emerged that in a bedroom; a black crossbreed dog (similar to Cane Corso) was kept in conditions of neglect and in very poor hygienic and sanitary conditions.
The poor animal, just nine months old, was found locked up in the dark and tied to the bed net with an 80 cm leash.
The animal was without water and food available as well as being forced to stand in its own urine.
Further investigations by the Carabinieri, supported by the veterinary service of the local USL, have ascertained that the puppy, equipped only with a Romanian microchip, was not registered in the Italian national canine registry. This has also led to an administrative sanction for the youngster that will be imposed by the veterinary service.
In consideration of these conditions, incompatible with their nature and producing serious suffering; the seizure of the animal was triggered and its relative entrustment to the custody of the municipal kennel
The twenty-year-old was charged with animal cruelty.
