The celebrations of San Pietro in Modica are in full swing, from yesterday the triduum until June 28th –

With the Eucharistic celebration animated by the parish community of Sant’Anna, the solemn triduum began in preparation for the feast of Saint Peter the Apostle in Modica.

Presiding over the first day of the triduum in honor of Saint Peter, Patron Saint of the City of Modica, was Don Crescenzo Mucia, parish priest of the parish of the Oriente district.

This afternoon the triduum continues with the celebration animated by the San Giorgio parish and officiated by Don Michele Fidone, parish priest of the Mother Church. Tomorrow, the last day of the triduum, will be presided over by Monsignor Ignazio Petriglieri, vicar general of the Diocese of Noto.

Furthermore, the recreational program also continues. Yesterday evening, at the Domus S. Petri, there was a screening of the film “Pimpernel Red” on the paths of dignity of people with mental illnesses, curated by a network of associations and institutions operating in the field and with the participation of director Franco Jannuzzi and Gaetano Giunta, creator of the film and the Luce e Libertà project.

This evening, however, at 8pm, in the church of San Pietro, there will be a concert by the choir of the Unitre of Modica, with maestro Giorgio Cannizzaro as pianist and maestro Orazio Baglieri as director. Tomorrow, however, at 9pm, along the steps of St. Peter’s, the presence of the editorialist and commentator of the Corriere della Sera, the former director Paolo Mieli, is expected, who will dialogue with Enzo Scarso and present the book “The authoritarian century” in the scope of the Scenarios initiative.

Finally, on 28 and 29 June some catechism students will be available to visitors and tourists to show them the beauties of the church.

“These are very special days for the city of Modica – say the provincial president of Confcommercio Ragusa, Gianluca Manenti, and the sectional president Giorgio Moncada, who support the initiatives included in the calendar of celebrations in the media – days in which one rediscovers the passion for one’s identity , for their culture and for the revaluation of traditions. All very interesting, a circumstance which pushes, among other things, our members to participate with conviction in this particular moment”.
