«A meeting with the Mase minister Pichetto Fratin is scheduled very soon to identify the new commissioner». This was announced by the interim president Alessandro Piana regarding the agenda presented by the majority in the Regional Council on the national project for the repositioning of the regasification plant off the coast of Vado Ligure, which commits the council to implement all necessary actions and measures with the Government to identify a new commissioner. The agenda was approved with 18 votes in favor of the majority.
«The issue of repositioning the regasification ship is a governmental one and should not be exploited either at a local or regional level – says Piana -. I would also like to remind you that the national energy plan was also signed by the parties of those who sit on the opposition benches in the Region, as well as shared by all the main business associations in the country, and therefore voted by almost all the political forces in the last two Governments. It is not acceptable for those who hold an institutional role to stoke citizens’ fears: the regasification terminal is the subject of an environmental and safety procedure which calls on the most qualified technicians in Italy to express their opinion and establish, on scientific grounds, whether there are or minus the requirements to place the vessel where it is intended. A step established by law which implies the verification of every aspect relating to the safety and compatibility of the plant with the territory”.
«All actions and measures will be implemented that take into consideration the critical issues that may emerge in the various investigations. Following the meeting with the Minister, I will update the mayors of the area who recently asked me for a formal meeting. Furthermore, the majority undertakes to ensure that the new commissioner meets, together with the Region, the mayors of the 12 municipalities involved and of the Province of Savona to give them timely updates and to reiterate the fundamental connection with the territorial bodies. Once again the Liguria Region confirms its openness to dialogue on a particularly sensitive topic, so as to carry forward the dialogue and discussion that has always existed since the start of the project”, concludes the interim president of the Liguria Region.
