Gas and electricity contracts: Federconsumatori Genoa “don’t fall for scams”

In recent days we have been informed of phone calls from strange individuals who, posing as Federconsumatori operators, propose changes to contracts and tariffs. These are scam communications for which Federconsumatori has filed a complaint with the Genoa Police Headquarters so that the authorities can carry out the necessary investigations. Federconsumatori acts exclusively at its offices to protect the consumer user where the procedures are carried out, by appointment and with documentation in hand.
The fraudulent phenomenon operates in the context of the liberalization of the gas market (from January) and the electricity market (from July) in which citizens are literally invaded by phone calls proposing “exceptional” contract changes, only to then discover many cases this is not the case.

Governments have opened the doors to a “stupid” energy bill mechanism, creating enormous damage to families who see tariff costs rise enormously. Increases justified only by price speculation about which the Government and Parliament say nothing. Nobody checks how it is possible that those who reach the end of the energy contract are immediately contacted by telephone by the most disparate people? Who distributes telephone numbers? Doesn’t the privacy law apply to everyone?

In any case, Federconsumatori invites citizens to be wary of telephone offers, contractual proposals must be made in writing to allow a correct evaluation of the offer. Putting your phone down every now and then can save your wallet.
