Maria Teresa Chavez Flores, 65 years old of Peruvian origin, social health worker, was found dead in her home in via Niccolò da Tolentino, in the Careggi area of Florence. Investigations are underway by the police headquarters’ mobile team with the forensic police. According to what we learn, the investigation is for murder: the hypothesis is that the woman was strangled in bed while she slept.
The investigations
It was the woman’s nephew who raised the alarm on 112 this morning before dawn: the 17-year-old who had lived with her in the Florentine home (the boy’s parents live in Peru) since the age of 13. The public prosecutor on duty Giacomo Pestelli went to inspect the apartment where the body was found. The nephew was taken to the police station. Maria Teresa Chavez Flores worked as a nurse in a facility for psychiatric patients and in another for Alzheimer’s patients
