After the victories in Cassino, Veroli and Monterotondo, the president of the Lazio PD Francesco De Angelis speaks of an excellent result in our region, as well as at a national level.
“An extraordinary result but one that does not surprise us, because it is the result of constant work carried out with passion and concreteness by our secretary Elly Schlein and by the entire Democratic Party. Florence, Bari, Perugia, Campobasso, but also many other cities, with some exceptional results which mark very high percentages obtained by our candidates”. Thus the president of the Lazio Democratic Party, Francesco De Angelis, who adds:
“The centre-left wins this round of voting by a landslide, with a Democratic Party that emerges from this electoral competition stronger, united and ready to be the protagonist of a coalition project involving the other centre-left forces and civic movements. Fifteen days ago the great result of the European elections, which marked the moment of the relaunch of our party and the progressive forces of this country.
The centre-left’s result was excellent in our region too. After the victories of Enzo Salera, confirmed mayor of Cassino in the first round, of Germano Caperna in Veroli and of Riccardo Varone in Monterotondo, the cities of Civitavecchia, Palestrina and Tarquinia were wrested from the centre-right. In the port city Marco Piendibene imposes himself with a coalition that brought together the Democratic Party, the Green Left Alliance and the Five Star Movement; in Palestrina the new mayor is Igino Macchi, supported by the Democratic Party and some civic forces, while in Tarquinia Francesco Sposetti prevails with over seventy percent.
It is the victory of coalitions that bring together progressive parties and an increasingly appreciated civility. Let us now continue with this step, convinced that it will certainly lead us to new important victories.”
