The holiday in Sardinia of a tourist has turned into a tragedy: Francesco Fregni, 43 years old on July 30th. The man, a resident of Mirandola, died suddenly yesterday afternoon around 2 pm while he was bathing in the crystal clear waters of the beach of Su Giudeu, in Chia, on the coast of Domus de Maria. From what we learn, he died in front of his wife and two small children. The family had just entered the water when Fregni, a few steps from the shore, was struck by the fatal illness. In the meantime, the 118 paramedics intervened and tried to revive the tourist with the use of the defibrillator. Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done for the 42-year-old: the man died instantly. The man’s body has been transferred to forensic medicine: an autopsy will certainly be performed to establish what may have ended the life of the man from Modena, who was on holiday in Sardinia for a few days with his family. The cause of death was probably cardiac arrest, but specific tests will be carried out. The Carabinieri and local police officers also intervened on site for the routine tests. The family of the 42-year-old, who witnessed helplessly the worst of tragedies, is in shock. Yesterday, the news of the young father’s sudden death cast a spell over Mirandola. Fregni worked at Martini Luce in Concordia and had attended the Iti in Mirandola. He leaves behind his wife Sara and two young children.
