Genoa – First political meeting-debate this morning for the president of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti, who has been under house arrest since May 7th in his home in Ameglia, near La Spezia. After the judges’ authorization, in fact, Toti will be able to meet political exponents of the majority that supports him at the helm of the Liguria Region, starting with his councilors and the vice president and then, following, the Ligurian representatives of the majority parties of the Government and then those of Noi Moderati, a party of which Toti is a member and which he helped to found.
This morning, therefore, joining Toti at his home in Ameglia will be the interim president of the Liguria Region Alessandro Piana, the councilor Giacomo Giampedrone and the councilor Marco Scajola.
Toti’s lawyer, Stefano Savi, will also participate in the meeting, which can last no more than three hours, while the police will monitor the situation from the outside.
An analysis of the situation and the “urgent needs” with respect to decisions to be made for the management of the Region and its needs is probable but it is not excluded that Toti and his “invitees” will also talk about possible resignations even if the topic is not officially among those that will be addressed.
In fact, President Toti remains convinced that he can prove his innocence but the Liguria Region has been without his official leadership since May 7th. A very long time for a complex body that effectively manages key sectors in public administration.
In the next meeting, President Toti will meet the three Ligurian coordinators and secretaries of the three parties who have supported him in recent years. That is, the regional secretary of the League Edoardo Rixi, and the regional coordinators of Fratelli d’Italia and Forza Italia Matteo Rosso and Carlo Bagnasco.
In the third and final meeting, President Toti will speak with two representatives of the Noi Moderati party, namely the leader Maurizio Lupi and the deputy Pino Bicchielli.
