The women’s national volleyball team won its second Nations League

AGI – Italy has conquered for the second time in history the Women’s Volleyball Nations League. The blues of the technical commissioner Julio Velasco they defeated Japan 3 to 1 (set: 25-17; 25-17; 21-25; 25-20) in the final held at PalaHuamark in Bangkok, Thailand. The first victory of Italian women’s volleyball in the Nations League was that of Antalya in 2022. Bronze to Poland who defeated Brazil 3 to 2.

With an excellent performance, the Italians clearly defeated the Japanese – finalists for the first time in six editions of the intercontinental tournament – to lift the Volleyball Nations League for the second time. A very important result because it comes one month before the start of the Paris Olympics. Effective in blocking defence, precise on serve and substantially perfect in attack, Italy has crowned in the best possible way a path of constant global growth which began on 15 May in Antalya (3 victories and 1 defeat), continued in Macao (3 victories and 1 defeat) and Fukuoka (4 wins), and concluded in a triumphant manner today in Bangkok (only one set lost).

In the final against the Japanese, the best scorer of the captain’s Italy Anna Danesiwas Paola Egonu with 27 points, followed by Miriam Sylla with 15, Alice Degradi with 12, and Sarah Louise Fahr with 9. For Velasco, new coach on the bench of Italian women’s volleyball, this is a new success to add to the five World Leagues won in the 90s at the helm of the men’s national team, a result also sealed by the absolute record in the world ranking.
