Four lives were saved by the Fire Brigade in an operation conducted in Lamone, near Brisighella. It was the river rescuers who rescued three boys and a girl in danger from the river: after the sudden rise in the water level they remained clinging to a trunk, at the mercy of the current. With a system of suspended ropes called a “zipline”, the firefighters reached the four people and took them to safety. The intervention was conducted successfully today around 11am. The alarm was raised at 10.15am, when teams with aquatic rescuers from the Ravenna command rushed to the scene and also alerted the helicopter. The specialized sector intervened in Fognano, in a stretch of the Lamone river where “people stuck in the riverbed” had been reported. They were, in fact, three children, aged 12, 10 and 8 respectively. With them, also in difficulty, is a 24-year-old educator. While they were walking along the river and trying to retrieve a slipper, a child was dragged by the current, and soon after another child, who was trying to help, was put in danger. A few minutes later they were all at risk, including the educator, busy retrieving them, who was no longer able to reach the shore. It was thanks to her help that they managed to get to a safe place in the center of the stream, but they found themselves stuck there and were no longer able to return to dry land. A situation that forced them into the water for about 40 minutes. Then the decisive intervention of the Fire Brigade, who with Sa operators (Aquatic Rescuers) proceeded with maneuvers from the ground and ropes to recover the unfortunate victims.
