Antonio Cannalonga qualifies for the U.20 Javelin Throw World Championships! “I’m aiming to get on the podium!” | Battipaglia 1929

Mission accomplished!
Antonio Cannalonga has qualified for the Under 20 World Javelin Throw Championships, which will be held in Lima (Peru), from August 27th to 31st!
The young javelin thrower from Battipaglia needed the minimum measurement of 69.89 meters to qualify and Cannalonga succeeded!

“I am really happy to have qualified for the Mindiali – states Antonio Cannalonga – because at the beginning of the season it was, for me, an almost unachievable dream, then, above all thanks to the support of my grandfather, my father and Roberto Orlando (Azzurro , as well as the reigning Italian javelin champion, ed.) this dream has become reality!”

The start of the season, in fact, did not promise anything good for Antonio Cannalonga.
“It was a very complicated start – explains the javelin thrower from Battipaglia – because I had to recover from some injuries, and it wasn’t easy to do so. Then, rediscovering the right technique and the sensations returned to those of the past, even the throws improved more and more and, thus, I was able to reach the minimum distance to qualify for the World Championship!”

Having resolved his physical problems and regained his good mood, Cannalonga is now aiming really high!
“The first goal I set for myself at the World Championships is to qualify for the final phase. Once I reach it – continues Antonio Cannalonga – I will try to place myself on one of the three steps of the podium. To do this I will have to improve my staff by at least four or five metres. I’m sure I can do these five extra meters, I feel I can do it. What’s certain is that I’m playing it!”

Between now and the trip to Lima scheduled for the end of August, there is still a lot to work on!
“In addition to training, I will compete at the Italian Championships in La Spezia and then at my own championship, the Italian Under 20 Championship in Rieti. Then I will be involved in other less important races that precede the World Championships!”
