After the clashes at Don Bosco Park, the level of tension rises. Death threats written on the walls against councilor Borsari appeared near his house in the San Donato district and then vandalism against the PD club in Viale della Repubblica. The Municipality denounces the violent climate triggered by “attempts to block the tram construction site by some members of the Besta committee and subjects attributable to the antagonistic galaxy” Mayor Lepore asks for protection for his councilors

BOLOGNA – Death threats written on the walls of the San Donato neighborhood against the municipal councilor for public works Simone Borsari appeared during the night near the home of the same councilor, and then vandalism against the PD headquarters in Viale della Repubblica and writings against the municipality and the Police. “A long trail of damage and abusive writings” denounces Palazzo d’Accursio – left by “attempts to block the tram construction site along the stretch of Viale Aldo Moro, by some members of the Besta committee and subjects attributable to the antagonistic galaxy” underlining the common thread that connects these episodes to the clashes of the last few days in the Don Bosco Park during the protests against the felling of some trees for the work on the tram and a new cycle path. For the Municipality which speaks of a “climate of intimidation”, these are “violent acts that have nothing to do with dissent, moreover towards a work like the Tram, which is fundamental precisely for achieving the objectives of environmental protection”. It is not the first time that threatening writings have been found under the houses of councilors of the council, “attributable to the same worlds linked to the protest against the new Besta school”. On other occasions the interested parties and the administration decided to report the matter only to the competent authorities. But given “the gravity of the moment, and the growing climate of violence” the Municipality clarifies that this time it wanted to make the matter public. Mayor Matteo Lepore immediately expressed “solidarity with councilor Borsari and his family for the intimidation they suffered”. “What has been happening at the Don Bosco Park for months now is the result of a climate of violence aggravated by the compliance of political and cultural areas of various origins” states the mayor who then adds “I demand respect for the councilors of my council, but not only. I feel the duty to ask that they are also protected and safeguarded, because those who do their work for the city every day cannot see their private and family life disturbed by a group of violent people who exploit the right ecological sensitivities of many people in good faith for political purposes of another nature” Bologna – concludes the mayor – has always had the antibodies to stem political violence in a democratic way and will do so once again
