Pescara: City mourning declared for the death of Thomas Christopher Luciani

PESCARA – «The city of Pescara joins in grief with the community of Rosciano, on the day of the last farewell to Christopher Thomas Luciani»: thus begins the note released by the mayor of Pescara Carlo regarding the brutal murder of Thomas Christopher Luciani, the 17 year old massacred by peers for a debt of a few hundred euros.

“On the occasion of the funeral of the 16-year-old – continues Masci – scheduled for tomorrow at 5:00 p.m., I proclaim a day of mourning for the city, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., certain of interpreting the feelings and emotions of the entire community, stunned and incredulous at the end of the young man from Rosciano. It is necessary to pause, as a testimony of the grief not only of our city but of the nation, as a sign of respect for Christopher’s family and friends, and also to reflect deeply and responsibly on what happened”.

With the measure signed today to proclaim a day of mourning, the mayor orders, starting tomorrow morning and until 6:30 p.m., the display of flags at half-mast in municipal offices and in all public buildings. Business owners and public operators are asked not to engage in any behavior that conflicts with the spirit of mourning from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., in conjunction with the funeral ceremony.
